These are the requirements for the Bachelor Animation Design
For the B.A. Animation Design at Wilhelm Bücher University, there are various ways to access:
Access option No. 1: You have the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, or the subject-restricted higher education entrance qualification.
Access option No. 2: You have a university admission qualification recognized as equivalent by the Hessian Ministry of Culture (e.g. a master's degree or a qualification as a state-certified technician).
Access option No. 3: Studying as an auditor: You start your guest study at our university without the three mentioned accesses and, after 2 semesters of achievement, take the university entrance examination. To do this, you must meet all the following requirements:
- You have completed a legally regulated, at least two-year vocational training in a field related to the desired course of study according to the Vocational Training Act, the Crafts Code, through federal or state law.
- You have subsequently worked for at least two years full-time in a field related to the desired course of study.
If you aim for a course of study that is not related to the completed training or professional activity, the knowledge acquired through training and professional activity must be expanded or deepened by qualified further training with a minimum of 400 hours in a field related to the desired course of study.
After passing the university entrance examination, we will change your status from auditor to regular student.

These are the study contents and the course of studies
Your Bachelor's degree programme in Animation Design at WBH is structured in a modular way. You study thematically closed subject areas (modules) to which credit points are assigned according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The number of credit points assigned to each module depends on the scope of the module and the associated workload. All the credit points you earn will be credited to you, and you will receive a record of them. Your achievements are thus comparable and recognised internationally.
The course of study is structured as follows:
- 1st semester: Introduction and orientation project, drawing techniques, media technology basics and design theory, academic work, creative methods
- 2nd semester: Intercultural communication, law and profession, design history and theory, agile project management, storyboarding and narration
- 3rd semester: Basics of business and marketing, semiotics and aesthetics, animation: cinematic language, software for animation design 1 2D/3D, animation design project (technical)
- 4th semester: Moving image design, motion graphics, software for animation design 2 2D/3D, animation design project (narrative), seminar
- 5th semester: Specialisation module 1, project work, practical work phase
- 6th semester: Specialisation module 2, specialisation project, elective area, bachelor thesis and colloquium
At the beginning of the programme or during your studies, you will also choose one of these specialisations: Production Pipelines (hierarchical and dynamic Relationship), Scripting Language (Types and Application), Project: Integration (Plug-in Shader, Light, Rigging).
The elective module: Digital Ethics, Fundamentals of Sustainability or Human-Centred Design.
