Admission requirements
Admission to the Craft Design degree program is granted to those who meet the following requirements:
• Proof of the start or completion of a craft apprenticeship
and who meet one of the following requirements:
• General university entrance qualification (Abitur)
• University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife)
• Passed master craftsman examination
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least Realschulabschluss) and a qualified completion of a recognized vocational training of at least 3 years, which shows an average or overall grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not specified, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Proof of outstanding scientific or artistic talent through an aptitude test at the DIPLOMA University at the beginning of studies

Details
The distance learning programme Craft Design offers a unique combination of craftsmanship and academic education. It is aimed at apprentices in the crafts as well as skilled craftsmen who want to expand their knowledge and further qualify. The course comprises three qualifications: journeyman's certificate, master qualification, and Bachelor of Arts.
During the course, you will acquire in-depth knowledge in the areas of design, language, typography, design methods, design history, communication sciences, and management. These contents are deepened through practical exercises, projects, and seminars offered in cooperation with the Chamber of Crafts Hannover.
The study programme is designed to be as flexible as it is practical. You can tailor your study time flexibly and have the option to extend your studies free of charge if needed. There are regular online seminars and face-to-face events in Hannover to promote direct interaction with your fellow students and lecturers.
Completing the course opens up various career opportunities. You are qualified to manage a crafts business, work as a project manager in architectural firms, or carry out advisory roles. In addition, the programme offers the opportunity to implement sustainable and environmentally oriented projects in the field of design.
