Admission requirements
The degree programme Tourism Management is open to those who meet one of the following requirements:
• General university entrance qualification
• University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification
• Passed master craftsman examination
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate) and qualified completion of a recognized vocational training of at least 3 years, which shows an average overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not specified, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Completion of a professional advancement training course of at least 400 teaching hours, a technical college, or a vocational or administrative academy *
• Final examination in a state-recognized vocational training occupation with subsequent at least 2 years of professionally related work experience related to the degree programme and passing a separate university entrance examination *
* in accordance with the Regulation on Access of Professionally Qualified Individuals to Universities in the State of Hesse
Further information on specific qualifications is available upon request. Applicants who do not meet the specified requirements can initially participate in the programme as guest auditors if they have been admitted to the university entrance examination.
For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be demonstrated for admission.

The tourism industry is an attractive field of work. Growing wanderlust as well as successful events, fairs, and congresses ensure a considerable level of utilization. At the same time, increased mobility and higher resource consumption inevitably lead to challenges of sustainable development with sustainable travel concepts and smart strategies beyond "Overtourism".
The Bachelor's degree programme "Tourism Management" (B.A.) provides you with important key competencies for activities in tourism management through a 7-semester (online) distance learning programme. The interdisciplinary programme covers not only business administration and tourism economics but also relevant legal aspects. The finely coordinated and practice-oriented content will equip you with travel-specific knowledge and intercultural management skills for the global tourism and event industry. You will acquire the necessary tools to develop holistic and sustainable strategies, taking into account not only the economic fundamentals but also ecological, sociocultural, and geopolitical aspects. In addition, you will gain comprehensive marketing skills.
During your studies, you can also choose your personal, professionally oriented focus to further deepen your skills.
The study focuses in the Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management are:
• Business Travel and Hotel Management
• Destination and Event Management
• Sports and Health Management
Course structure
At the DIPLOMA University, you have the opportunity to study the Bachelor's degree programme in Tourism Management in one of three variants, as an online programme, as a distance learning programme on-site, or as a full-time programme.
The (online) distance learning programme at the DIPLOMA University is designed according to the "Blended Learning" principle. This means that you will work on the study materials with the help of study booklets and attend seminars. These seminars usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in some cases also during the week in the evening. In the online programme, these seminars are held as live online seminars. You can also take your exams online or at an exam centre of your choice. In the distance learning programme on-site, you will attend your real presence seminars and exams at your chosen study centre – in Wiesau.
Costs & Start of Studies
The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University starts every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October) of a year. The start of studies is also possible at any other time – after an individual examination.
The full-time programme starts once a year in the winter semester (October).
