It especially addresses individuals who want to take an active role in the development, management, or marketing of real estate projects.
What admission requirements must you meet?
The following formal requirements apply for admission to the Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate at EBZ Business School:
- General university entrance qualification (Abitur), subject-specific university entrance qualification or advanced technical college entrance qualification
- Alternatively: Professional qualification, for example a completed vocational training with at least three years of relevant professional experience in a real estate-related field
- Or: A prior qualification recognised as equivalent in accordance with state regulations
- Proof of English language skills at least at level B1 (through a recognised certificate or through corresponding English instruction as part of the (specialised) Abitur)
- There is no numerus clausus (NC); there is no selection procedure
Furthermore, the following personal requirements are recommended for the course:
- Initiative and motivation to engage with complex economic, technical and legal issues in the real estate sector
- Analytical thinking skills and interest in interdisciplinary connections
- Willingness to work in a team as well as to take on responsibility in projects
- Strong communication skills and interest in exchange with professionals from different occupational groups
- Ability for self-directed, structured learning in distance studies – usually 20–25 hours per week
- Basic knowledge of mathematics, economics or law is helpful but not a mandatory requirement
What content can you expect in the Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate?
In the Bachelor's degree programme in Real Estate at EBZ Business School, you will acquire comprehensive specialist knowledge of the real estate industry and focus specifically on one of four specialisations: Real Estate Management, Digitalisation, International Management, or Municipal Real Estate Management. The curriculum includes, among other things, the following knowledge modules:
- Introduction to the Real Estate Industry: Basics of markets, urban and neighbourhood development, structure and key players of the industry
- Real Estate Management: Construction basics, project development, property valuation, architecture, energy supply and efficiency, smart home/smart building, aspects of sustainability and ecology
- Business Administration and Law: Basics of economics and business administration, accounting (national and international), property and corporate financing, controlling, corporate taxation, national and international accounting standards
- Mathematics & Statistics: Quantitative methods in real estate, investment calculation and data analysis
- Business English: Business and Real Estate English for international communication
- Organisation & Marketing: Organizational Behaviour, marketing strategies in real estate markets
- Project Work & Practical Phases: Application of acquired skills in real projects and practical phases
- Elective Modules: among others, controlling in real estate, financial accounting, value-oriented management
You will develop analytical skills for property valuation and project management, learn to communicate interdisciplinarily, and apply scientific methods to practical problem-solving. As part of your chosen specialisation, you will specifically train your knowledge for particular fields of activity:
- Real Estate Management: analysing markets, managing project development, financing, brokerage activities
- Digitalisation: digital business models, process digitalisation, application of ERP/CRM systems, risk-opportunity assessments of new technologies
- International Management: global markets and transactions, cash flow analyses, international real estate law, intercultural communication
- Municipal Real Estate Management: sustainable planning of municipal real estate, procurement law, energy optimisation, citizen participation
Upon completion, you will also receive two certificates: "Wohnungs- und ImmobilienwirtIn (EBZ)" after the fourth semester and DVP-ZERT® Project Assistant for project management competence.
How is the Real Estate distance learning course structured?
You can flexibly adapt the course to your life situation. Various study models are available:
- Distance learning (part-time): 7 semesters, purely online or with optional attendance phases
- On-campus study: at the Bochum or Hamburg campus, either full-time (6 semesters) or part-time
- Start dates: possible for summer and winter semester (distance learning), full-time on-campus only in winter semester
Your study materials include scripts, teaching videos and multimedia learning formats. Approximately 84 online seminars await you, in which you deepen specialist content, ask questions, and exchange ideas with lecturers and fellow students.
Key elements of the course flow:
- Self-study of modules in fixed or freely planned units
- Practical phases in which you apply your knowledge to real estate projects
- Choice of specialisation during semesters 4–6
- Final phase with bachelor thesis and colloquium
You can flexibly combine work and studies. Exams and project work ensure learning success and lead to the bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS).

As a graduate of the Bachelor’s degree programme in Real Estate, you qualify for central tasks in the real estate industry – both nationally and internationally:
- Housing and real estate companies
- Property and facility management companies
- Project developers and property developers
- Municipal administrations, real estate departments in cities and communities
- Corporate real estate management in large companies
- Consulting firms with a real estate focus
- Real estate brokerage, estate agent offices and marketing
Further professional opportunities arise in the digitalisation of the industry, in international project management, in sustainable management of municipal real estate, or as a specialist in the development of smart buildings and neighbourhoods.
A subsequent master’s degree – for example in project development or real estate management – is also possible. Previous graduates have established themselves as managers, project developers, consultants or managing directors.
How high are the tuition fees and what financing options are available?
The tuition fees depend on the chosen study model and amount to the following for distance learning (part-time):
- Distance learning (digital): €2,280 per semester or €380 per month
- Distance learning with attendance phases: €2,880 per semester or €480 per month
- One-time enrolment fee: €550
For on-campus study:
- Full-time study: €4,080 per semester or €680 per month (6 semesters)
- Part-time, campus-based: €3,480 per semester or €580 per month (7 semesters)
For all variants: there are no separate examination fees. Costs can be claimed for tax purposes. Many employers provide financial support for studies, especially if you are employed in parallel. Talent support programmes and scholarships are also available. In addition, financing is possible, for example, through educational loans.
