The distance learning course in Real Estate Management (Bachelor of Arts) at IU International University is aimed at all those who want to start a career in the real estate sector or expand their skills in a targeted manner. The program targets professionals from commercial, technical, or construction-related fields who want to take on management tasks in the real estate sector - as well as career changers who want to obtain a recognized academic title. The flexible online study model particularly enables professionals, parents, and busy individuals to individually combine studies and everyday life.

Admission requirements

To enroll in the Bachelor's program in Real Estate Management at IU, you must meet one of the following requirements:

General or subject-specific university entrance qualification (A-levels) or vocational baccalaureate (technical college entrance qualification): Direct access to the program. The proof can be provided by a German school-leaving certificate or - for international applicants - by an equivalency assessment.

Studying without A-levels/technical college entrance qualification is possible with:

  • a recognized master craftsman’s certificate or an advanced training qualification (e.g. certified specialist, state-certified business economist)
  • at least two years of vocational training in Germany and subsequently at least three years of full-time work experience. In the case of training in a different field, a trial study or proof of aptitude for studies is required.

German language proof for foreign study applicants in German-language programs, e.g. by means of TestDaF, DSH1, Telc B2 or ÖSD B2. The proof must be provided before the start of the course and is generally not older than five years.

There is no numerus clausus (NC). The start of the program is possible throughout the year, the application is done online and without fixed deadlines. Those who are unsure can test the IU distance learning program free of charge for one month.

With a completed apprenticeship as a real estate clerk or bank clerk (IHK), you can have between 50 and 90 ECTS points credited - this significantly shortens the duration of the studies and reduces the tuition fees. Other relevant training programs can also be credited upon request.

Personal requirements

The following personal qualities and competencies are recommended for a successful course of study:

  • Self-organization and self-motivation: The flexible IU distance learning program requires independent time management and the ability to work continuously towards the learning goals.
  • Interest in economic and legal issues related to the real estate industry.
  • Understanding of data and numbers, e.g. for controlling, accounting, financing, or real estate valuation.
  • Communication skills and proficiency in digital tools; enjoyment of interactive exchanges in online teaching events.
  • Basic English skills are advantageous depending on the selected elective modules (foreign language offerings available), but are not an admission requirement.

The program is suitable for both beginners and experienced professionals who want to develop towards management or consulting. A connection to the real estate industry is helpful but not mandatory - the program starts with the basics and gradually imparts all relevant specialized, methodological, and practical knowledge.
