The programme is designed for both specialists and executives and provides comprehensive training for demanding positions in leading brand companies.
There are two ways to qualify for the MBA programme in E-Commerce:
- Previous studies and professional experience: You need a completed bachelor’s degree with at least 180 ECTS credits and at least one year of professional experience after your bachelor’s degree.
- Practical professional experience and entrance examination: Alternatively, you can also apply without a bachelor's degree if you can prove at least one year of relevant professional experience and successfully pass an entrance examination.
The technical prerequisites include access to a PC and stable internet, as well as a webcam and microphone for exams.
Procedure of the entrance examination for access to the MBA without a bachelor’s degree
The entrance examination consists of a written exam and an oral exam, both of which are taken on the same day.
Interested candidates can register online via the registration form for one of the monthly exam dates. The maximum number of participants per date is limited to 10 persons.
Participation requires proof of at least one year of practical professional experience. Cancellation or postponement of the entrance examination is free of charge up to one week before the exam date.
A one-time fee of €200 is charged for the entrance examination, which also includes a repeat of the exam. This fee will be refunded upon passing the exam and subsequent start of studies.
To prepare for the oral examination, part 1 “Companies and Environment” and part 2 “Marketing” from the 10th edition of “General Business Administration” by Thommen, Achleitner, Gilbert, Hachmeister, Jarchow and Kaiser, as well as the accompanying workbook with revision questions orientated towards the exam questions, are recommended.
The entrance examination is conducted online via MS Teams. At the beginning of the exam, participants must identify themselves. During the exam, only the exam programme window may be open. Headphones or aids are not permitted.
The written exam takes place between 9:00 – 10:00 on the exam day, lasts a maximum of 60 minutes and consists of questions on understanding and discussing a scientific specialised article.
After the written exam, the oral examination follows, which lasts a maximum of 45 minutes. Knowledge from general business administration as well as another specialised subject is tested.
The exam is led by an examination board, consisting of a professor as chairperson and a part-time lecturer from the chosen course of study. The exam is graded as “passed” or “not passed”.
Upon successful completion of the entrance examination, nothing stands in the way of starting the chosen MBA distance learning course, and the exam fee will be credited after 6 months as part of the tuition fees.
