Admission Requirements

With your MBA in General Management, you can work, for example, in strategic business development, strategic marketing, as an entrepreneur, or as a business consultant

At the start of your studies, you must demonstrate:

• University degree (university, technical college, college of education, pedagogical college)
• relevant professional experience of at least one year
• advanced English language skills
• adequate knowledge of mathematical and statistical methods (usually provided for computer science, mathematics, engineering, and natural science courses; for other applicants, we offer a corresponding preparatory course if needed)

With a degree as Dipl.-Kaufmann or Dipl.-Betriebswirt, you can directly enter the 3rd semester of the MBA program, not only shortening the study period to 2 semesters but also saving costs.

With a degree as Dipl.-Wirtschaftspädagoge, Dipl.-Wirtschaftsingenieur, Dipl.-Wirtschaftsinformatiker, or Dipl.-Volkswirt, you can directly enter the 2nd semester, thus shortening the study time to a total of 3 semesters.

Course Contents

The course conveys a total of 120 ECTS credits over 4 semesters through these modules:

• 1st Semester: Key qualifications for studies and professions, basics of marketing management, U-logistics and supply chain management, basics of personnel management, compact financial accounting, tax law
• 2nd Semester: Investment and financing, strategic management and controlling, innovation management, organization and business development, international management and intercultural communication
• 3rd Semester: Case study work, specialization (corporate governance and sustainability, global marketing, international management, financial management, or human resource management)
• 4th Semester: Master's thesis (final paper, colloquium)

Throughout the MBA program, there is a mandatory colloquium and a mandatory business simulation game. In addition, there are voluntary seminars: a 2-day orientation workshop, a 6-day specialized seminar, a 1-day theme seminar, online tutorials in approximately 2-5 modules of 2 hours each, and a 1-day master's colloquium.

If you enroll in the 3-semester variant, we will fully credit the first semester, so you only need to take the modules from semesters 2, 3, and 4.

If you enroll in the 2-semester variant, we will fully credit the first two semesters, so you only need to take the modules from semesters 2, 3, and 4.

By the way: Regardless of the variant you choose, your MBA degree always comprises 120 ECTS credits – not just 90 or 60 ECTS like in other MBA programs. Procedure

The AKAD distance learning program combines traditional distance learning with modern digital learning methods.

You can enter the AKAD distance learning program flexibly at any time. By starting your distance learning, you choose one of three study variants: The Sprint variant corresponds to full-time study and lasts for 4 semesters or 24 months. The Standard variant lasts for 6 semesters or 36 months and is especially suitable if you are employed. The Stretch variant lasts for 8 semesters or 48 months, like a part-time study. In all 3 study models, you can extend up to 18 months of the standard study period without additional tuition fees, if desired.

The AKAD distance learning program is a study program that is tailored entirely to your personal preferences and learning style. A study at AKAD University consists of these components:

• Traditional distance learning: Your study materials will be sent to your home by mail. You work through the study letters independently and complete submission tasks. If you have any questions, you can contact your supervisors.
• Online study with digital learning methods: Via the online campus, you will complete additional exercises, exam coaching, and web-based training.
• Interactive learning: At AKAD University, you will be personally supervised by tutors and lecturers. Of course, you will also exchange ideas with other students. This way, you acquire valuable know-how for your professional practice and career-related skills.

• Interdisciplinary block seminars: Interdisciplinary block seminars are voluntary face-to-face events in Stuttgart. They complement the virtual learning formats and allow you to apply the learned methods to practical problems in your professional life.
