Which target group does the distance learning course Public Management (B.A.) address?

The degree programme is aimed at individuals who aspire to a specialist or managerial career in the public sector, in public enterprises or in non-profit organisations. The distance learning course is particularly suitable for working professionals and career changers who are interested in an active role in public administration, as well as for everyone who wants to help shape transformation processes, digitalisation and sustainability in ministries, authorities, associations or consulting firms. Prospective students without a higher education entrance qualification, but with professional qualifications from administration-related or commercial fields, are also an important target group.

Which formal access routes are possible?

There are three ways to gain admission to the Bachelor Public Management (B.A.) at Euro-FH:

• With Abitur or advanced technical college entrance qualification: Direct entry without further requirements.
• Without Abitur but with a subject-specific advanced training examination: E.g. as an IHK specialist or specialist, state-certified business administrator or equivalent advanced training qualification.
• Without Abitur, but with completed vocational training and several years of professional experience: Completed vocational training of at least two years and usually at least three years of relevant professional experience in an administration-related, economic, legal or comparable field.

Personal requirements include analytical thinking skills, an interest in social issues as well as a pronounced self-motivation. You should be able to organise yourself independently and be willing to engage in digital, flexible learning. Teamwork, communication and reflection skills as well as openness to change processes, in particular in the areas of digitalisation, sustainability and innovation in the public sector, are also helpful. Initial professional experience in the public service, in management consultancies or non-profit organisations is advantageous but not mandatory.

What content does the Public Management degree at Euro-FH convey?

• Communication and social skills: Citizen-centred administration, modern communication techniques
• Practice-oriented specialisation: In the main study phase, you choose one of nine specialisation areas – such as corporate management, IT management, human resources management, consulting, politics, society in transition, non-profit management, data management or law

The programme relies on the connection between theory and practice. You analyse current challenges faced by authorities, public enterprises and non-profit organisations and develop solutions for digitalisation, transformation and sustainability.
