To be admitted, you need at least two years of professional experience after your initial degree. Your initial degree should encompass at least 240 ECTS credits. If you already hold a diploma or master's degree, you can start directly with the MBA. Professional experience may be recognized as prior learning if your initial degree is less than 240 ECTS credits.
If your bachelor's degree is only 6 semesters (180 ECTS), you must complete two pre-master certificates before you can start the MBA. For a 7-semester bachelor's degree (210 ECTS), one pre-master certificate is required. These certificates provide you with additional knowledge and skills relevant to the MBA in Sustainability Management. You can choose from various certificates, including Future Management, Technology Management, Quality Management, Digitalization and Transformation, Agile Management and Digitalization, as well as Digital Energy Management and Energy Systems.

The Master's programme in Sustainability Management at Wilhelm Büchner University in Darmstadt is a further education programme that spans two semesters and concludes with the title "Master of Business Administration". This distance learning programme, with a standard study period of two semesters and a total of 60 ECTS credits, is aimed at professionals who wish to further qualify in the field of sustainability management.
The programme is divided into four subject-specific study areas. In addition to the core modules, which comprise 24 ECTS credits, it includes modules on specializations in sustainability management (6 ECTS credits), scientific application and transfer (12 ECTS credits), and the final master's thesis. The programme places great emphasis not only on professional expertise but also on scientific knowledge and guides students through the completion of a final master's thesis.
The structure of the programme is as follows:
- 1st Semester: Global Sustainability Policies and Strategies, Sustainable Business and Resource Management, Corporate Responsibility, Strategy and Leadership, Sustainable Finance, SDG Project
- 2nd Semester: Specialization Sustainability Management (1 elective module), Specialization work in the selected specialization area, Master's thesis including colloquium

By the way: The Accreditation Council has accredited the Master's programme in Sustainability Management from December 2021 to November 2029. This programme responds to the societal transformation process based on the principle of sustainability. Graduates carry a special responsibility in this context.
