Who is the Master (Blended Learning) of Evaluation (MABLE) suitable for?

Overview of admission requirements
- First higher education degree: A first professional higher education degree (e.g. Bachelor, Diploma, state examination) in any subject is required.
- Work experience: In addition, at least one year of qualified professional experience must be demonstrable.

- have a higher education entrance qualification (e.g. general university entrance qualification, master craftsman’s certificate or a comparable qualification according to the Saarland Higher Education Act § 77 para. 2 and 13)

- and have passed the aptitude test in due time (application deadline for the aptitude test: 1 April).
- Language certificate: Since the entire programme is conducted in English, proof of sufficient English skills is required (usually at least B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
- Application period: Applications are possible from March until 15 July. The programme starts in the winter semester (October).

The aim is to be able to design, conduct and critically assess evaluations in governmental, economic and civil society organisations.

- Final thesis: Independent Master's thesis on a current topic in evaluation research.
How is the distance learning course organised?
The Master’s programme is designed as a four-semester, part-time distance learning course with blended learning components. The language of instruction is English. The standard period of study is four semesters, with enrolment taking place at the start of the winter semester (October).
- Self-study: Scientifically based and practice-oriented learning materials for independent work.
- Online campus: Virtual learning and communication platform for exchange with lecturers and fellow students.
- On-site phases: A total of two on-site sessions each lasting about one week in Saarbrücken – to apply and deepen knowledge in theory and practice.
- Workload: On average approx. 15 hours per week.
- Flexibility: A wide range of digital learning resources and tools are available for the course; the scheduling of the on-site phases will be announced in good time.

- Instalment payment and extension: Tuition fee can be paid in instalments on request; in case of exceeding the standard period of study, 70% of the fees are waived from the 6th semester onwards.
- Scholarship: From October 2025, students in their second year of study will be eligible for the Deutschlandstipendium. It includes 300 Euro monthly over twelve months. The basis for awarding is the academic performance after the first semester.
