Requirements for enrollment
The degree program in Retail Management at the University of Schmalkalden is aimed at students who already have a degree in a business-related field and want to expand their knowledge and career opportunities.

The Master's program Mechanical Engineering and Management combines technical, business, and legal content with advanced modules in the field of mechanical engineering. Within the standard period of study of 5 semesters, you will acquire 90 ECTS credits.
The study plan is structured as follows:
- 1st Semester: Macroeconomic Framework, Strategic Management, Business Legal Framework, Negotiation and Conflict Management
- 2nd Semester: Retail Marketing, Quantitative Methods and Data Management, Management Concepts
- 3rd Semester: Retail Controlling, Personnel Management, Digital Commerce, Supply Chain and Purchasing Management
- 4th Semester: Project and Risk Management, International Retail Management, Sustainable Business Practices
- 5th Semester: Master Thesis and Colloquium
On-Site Classes and Practical Experience
What sets the distance learning program at the University of Schmalkalden apart are the intensive on-site classes and block seminars in Schmalkalden, Gera, and Eisenach (Thuringia). During these on-site sessions, you can exchange ideas on the learning content with your fellow students and teachers.
Over the course of the first 4 semesters, you will complete a total of 14 on-site sessions. The sessions are organized to fit well with part-time work - the events typically last 3-4 days, including the weekend.
If you have already obtained 180 ECTS credits in your first degree, you can acquire the additional 30 ECTS credits through an accompanying internship - which you can, for example, complete in your own company.
Tuition Fees
At the University of Schmalkalden, you pay the tuition fees for the part-time study program on a per-semester basis, always at the beginning of the semester. The tuition fees for the Master's in Retail Management amount to 2360,- euros per semester.
In addition, there are semester fees of approx. 54,- euros (without the semester ticket) or approx. 100,- euros (with the semester ticket).
