Admission requirements

For the degree programme Security Management, applicants are admitted if they meet one of the following requirements:

• General University Entrance Qualification
• University of Applied Sciences Entrance Qualification
• Passed Master Craftsman Examination
• Intermediate School Leaving Certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate) and a qualified completion of at least a 3-year recognized vocational training programme, which shows an average overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not specified, the arithmetical average of the individual subject grades applies)
• Completion of a professional advancement training programme of at least 400 hours of instruction, a technical college or a vocational or administrative academy*
• Final examination in a nationally recognized training occupation followed by at least 2 years of professionally related work experience and passing a separate university entrance examination*

*According to the Regulation on Admission of Professionally Qualified Persons to Universities in the State of Hesse.

For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be demonstrated for admission.

We are happy to provide further information on specific qualifications upon request. Applicants who do not meet the mentioned requirements may initially participate in the programme as guest auditors if they have been admitted to the university entrance examination.

Safety has become a central theme in modern societies given the numerous current risks, dangers, and threats such as terrorism, everyday crime, or natural disasters. As a result, there is an increased demand for expertise in security measures, to be covered both within the companies themselves and by specialized service providers. With the privatization of state and municipal tasks, this need for protection and security is also recognized and demanded by numerous public institutions.

The Bachelor's degree programme in "Security Management" (B.A.) prepares you for the diverse tasks in the security industry and corporate security in a 7-semester online distance learning format. The programme integratively imparts the necessary business, social, and legal competencies as well as selected technical knowledge. You will learn all the scientific foundations of the related disciplines and know how to apply the tools of security management securely. You will be able to analyze and plan security strategies for different fields of activity in the security industry from a business perspective.

During your studies, you can also choose your personal, professionally oriented focus to further deepen your skills.

Course of Study
At the DIPLOMA University, you have the opportunity to study the Bachelor's programme in Security Management as an online course.

The online distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University is designed according to the "Blended Learning" principle. This means you will work on the study contents with the help of study materials and attend live online seminars. These seminars typically take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in some cases also during the week in the evening. You can take your exams online or at an examination centre of your choice.

Costs & Registration
The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University starts every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October) of a year. The start of the programme is also possible at any other time – following an individual assessment.
