How is AI changing HR?

HR is one of the fields most impacted by AI:

  • Recruiting: AI screens applications and matches profiles – but the final hiring decision, cultural fit assessment and bias prevention remain human tasks.
  • Workforce planning: AI predicts turnover and identifies skill gaps. HR managers interpret results and design interventions.
  • People & Culture: Culture development, conflict resolution, trust-building and leadership coaching require empathy and judgment – skills AI lacks.

HR professionals who combine HR expertise with AI literacy have the strongest career prospects in 2026 and beyond.

Salary and career prospects

HR professionals in Germany earn an average of 58,565 € gross/year. Entry-level: 31,000–51,000 €. HR Business Partners: 55,000–80,000 €. Head of People & Culture: up to 100,000 €.

German salaries may appear lower than US or UK levels, but factor in low-cost education, universal healthcare, 25–30 vacation days and strong labor protections.
