These are the admission requirements for the Master's programme in Public Management
We offer the Master's in Public Management in 2 variants: the shortened 60 ECTS version takes 2 semesters in full-time study. The 120 ECTS version takes 4 semesters in full-time study.
For the 120 ECTS version in 4 semesters, the following requirements apply:
- You have a first degree in the fields of Public Management and Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, or Social Management, or a degree from one of the subject groups Personnel and Law as well as Business Psychology.
- The final grade should be at least "satisfactory".
- If your degree has a different focus, you may be admitted through a Master's entrance examination
For the shortened 60 ECTS version, the requirements are as follows:
- You have a first degree with a final grade of at least "satisfactory".
- If your first degree is 180 ECTS, you take 30 ECTS credits of courses afterwards and demonstrate at least 1 year of relevant work experience. Alternatively, you demonstrate at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- If your degree is 210 ECTS, you demonstrate at least 1 year of qualified work experience. The work experience is gained after completing your studies.
- If your degree is 240 ECTS, as is the case with many diploma degrees, you also demonstrate 1 year of qualified work experience in addition to the degree.

The master's program at IU International University is structured in modules. A module usually comprises 5 credit points (ECTS) and concludes with an examination, such as a written exam or paper. You complete your master's degree step by step – and even largely determine when you want to complete which module.
In the 60-ECTS variant, you can structure your study plan in full-time study as follows:

In the 120-ECTS variant, you could structure your curriculum in full-time study as follows:
- 1st Semester: Leadership, Project Management Methods, New Work, Research Methodology, Public Law and Administrative Control, Information Security and Data Protection
- 2nd Semester: Economics and Society II, Change Management and Organizational Development, Process Management and Optimization, EU and International Law, Project: Cohesion Policy and Funding Management, Financial Management and Control in the Public Sector
- 3rd Semester: Seminar Social Challenges of Digitization, Project: Procurement and International Tendering, Elective Course A, Elective Course B
- 4th Semester: Master's Thesis
In the 120-ECTS variant, you choose a total of 2 in-depth subjects according to your interests.

Study Concept: How the Part-Time Public Management Studies at IU Work
You can flexibly tailor the online study of Public Management at IU International University to fit your life and daily routine as best suits you. For example, you can choose from 3 study models: In the full-time program, you need a total of 2 semesters or 4 semesters, depending on the study variant, to complete your master's degree. In part-time program I, you study for 3 or 6 semesters until graduation. Or you opt for part-time program II and take 4 or 8 semesters to complete your master's.
With each module enrollment at IU, you receive study materials as printed study booklets. All materials are also available digitally. The IU Interactive Books are innovative study scripts enriched with video clips and quiz questions at the end of a lesson. Depending on the module, the study materials are complemented by podcasts, live tutorials, and video content in the form of so-called Shortcasts. You can access the IU Interactive Books via the practical IU Learn-App.
In many modules, virtual lectures are also offered, allowing you to interactively engage with your fellow students and lecturers.
Particularly practical and flexible is the option to take module exams in the form of online exams. You can take an online exam 7 days a week, 24 hours a day – whenever you feel best prepared, for example, for an exam in building construction. Additionally, we operate about 40 exam centers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, where you can also take your exams in a traditional on-site setting.
