No NC, even without Abitur: Admission to studies at AKAD University
You will be admitted to the specialized translation degree programme at AKAD University if you can demonstrate a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
Admission without a high school diploma or equivalent qualification is possible under the following conditions:
- You have successfully completed a vocational further training and hold a qualification such as State-certified Business Economist, Certified Accountant, Business Specialist, Business Administrator, State-certified Technician, or Master Craftsman.
- Or you have completed a vocational training of at least two years that is relevant to your desired course of study, as well as at least three years of professional experience in a related field. If this applies to you, you can take a university qualification examination, which consists of three written exams in German, English, and a subject-specific part, as well as an oral exam.

And if you want to start right away: You can enroll in this degree programme at any time. The distance learning programme for translators is not restricted, there is no numerus clausus.
Bachelor Distance Learning International Business Communication
The Bachelor Distance Learning International Business Communication is aimed at all those interested in both economics as well as language and cultural studies. This AKAD distance learning course is offered in two variants, the standard variant, which corresponds to part-time studies and lasts for 48 months or 8 semesters. You can complete this course stress-free alongside your job. The study time in part-time studies can be extended by up to 2 years at no additional cost. The sprint variant or full-time studies last a total of 36 months or 6 semesters.
The weekly workload is about 21 hours. Study materials are sent to you by post, and you work through them on your own with the help of tutors.
You must complete a 9-week internship during your studies. If you are employed for the same amount of time, this internship is not required.
In addition, you must reserve approximately 58 days for attendance seminars. An attendance seminar usually lasts for one or two days.
The course concludes with the academic degree Bachelor of Arts, which is fully equivalent to a Bachelor of Arts at a traditional university. To obtain this degree, you will complete the modules, attend the seminar and possibly the internship. Additionally, you will write a Bachelor's thesis, a written paper of approximately 50 pages.
