We offer the Master's programme in Business Psychology in 2 versions: the shortened 60-ECTS version lasts 2 semesters in full-time study. The 120 ECTS version lasts 4 semesters in full-time study.
For the 120-ECTS version in 4 semesters, these requirements apply:
- You have a first degree with a focus on business or economics and a final grade of at least "satisfactory".
- Or you have a first degree with a focus on business communication psychology and a final grade of at least "satisfactory".
- If your degree has a different focus, you can be admitted through a Master's access test.
For the shortened 60-ECTS version, these requirements apply:
- You have a first degree with a psychological focus and a final grade of at least "satisfactory".
- If your first degree is 180 ECTS, you take courses totaling 30 ECTS afterwards and demonstrate at least 1 year of relevant work experience. Alternatively, you demonstrate at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- If your degree is 210 ECTS, you take courses totaling 30 ECTS afterwards. Alternatively, you demonstrate at least 1 year of qualified work experience.
- If your degree is 240 ECTS, as is often the case with many diploma degrees, you do not need to demonstrate work experience.
Foreign applicants also need to demonstrate their knowledge of German, for example through TestDaF, DSH, Telc or ÖSD.

For your second specialization module, you choose from these topics: Consumer Behavior and Customer Loyalty, Personnel Recruitment and Development, Customer Journey, New Work, Business-oriented Organizational Development, Organizational Analysis and Development (only in the business studies foundation), Organization Analysis and Development (only in the business and communication psychology foundation).
Study Concept: How the Part-time Business Psychology Studies at IU Work
The online study of Business Psychology at IU International University can be flexibly adjusted to fit your life and daily routine as best as it suits you. For example, you can choose from 3 study models: In the full-time study, you need a total of 2 or 4 semesters until you complete your master's degree, depending on the study variant. With part-time study I, you study for 3 or 6 semesters until completion. Or you can opt for part-time study II and take 4 or 8 semesters to complete your master's degree.
You will receive study materials from IU in print with each module enrollment as study booklets. All materials are also available digitally. The IU Interactive Books are innovative learning scripts enriched with video clips and quiz questions at the end of each lesson. Depending on the module, study materials are complemented by podcasts, live tutorials, and video content in the form of so-called Shortcasts. You can access the IU Interactive Books via the practical IU Learn App.
Many modules also offer virtual lectures, allowing you to interactively engage with your classmates and instructors.
Convenient and flexible: the option to take module exams in the form of online exams. You can take an online exam 24/7, 7 days a week when you feel best prepared, for example, after studying construction design. Additionally, we operate about 40 exam centres in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, where you can also take your exams traditionally in person.
