Admission Requirements

With your B.A. in Business Administration, you can work in middle management, as an entrepreneur or founder, or go on to complete an MBA.

You can be admitted to the distance learning programme in Business Administration if you have a general university entrance qualification, a subject-specific university entrance qualification, or a university of applied sciences entrance qualification or an equivalent university entrance qualification in accordance with the Baden-Württemberg State University Act.

Alternatively, if you have completed a technical school qualification such as State-certified Business Administrator or State-certified Engineer, or have a professional qualification such as Certified Business Economist from the Chamber of Commerce or Certified Specialist from the Chamber of Commerce, you can be enrolled in the Business Administration distance learning programme. You will then participate in a consultation.

If you have completed a 2-year vocational training and have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience, you will take a university aptitude test before enrolling in the business administration distance learning programme.

In addition, we recommend a solid knowledge of mathematics at the level of secondary school leaving certificate. The course also requires advanced language skills, such as seven years of English lessons. This corresponds to the level of the First Certificate in English (ALTE 3/CEFR B2). You can take a test on the AKAD website and, if necessary, attend an English prep course.

With a Chamber of Commerce professional qualification like the Certified Business Economist from the Chamber of Commerce, you can obtain your Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in just 3 semesters and even save 50% of the tuition fees. Study Contents

The course provides a total of 180 ECTS credits over 6 semesters in these modules:

• 1st Semester: Key qualifications for studies and profession, basics of business management, basics of production and material management, basics of marketing management, basics of personnel management, basics of economics
• 2nd Semester: Personnel management and development, accounting, business mathematics, basics and application of business informatics, economic order and policy in Germany, basics of cost and performance accounting
• 3rd Semester: Operational controlling, phase-oriented management and organization, investment and financing, basics of contract law, commercial, corporate and competition law, statistics
• 4th Semester: Project management, project workshop, English for professional purposes, tax law, system-oriented management and internationalization
• 5th/6th Semester: Project, 2 specialization modules, final examination Bachelor thesis

You choose your 2 specializations from these 15 modules: Personnel Management, Marketing Management I, Marketing Management II, Balance Sheet Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, B2B Marketing and Sales, Service Management, Leadership, International Business, Startup Management, Digital Transformatio

During the course, you also participate in 1 business simulation game. Additionally, you can attend an on-site seminar (2 days orientation workshop). Moreover, in about 19 modules, online tutorials of 1-2 hours each are offered.

Procedure

The AKAD distance learning programme combines traditional distance learning with modern digital learning methods.

You can enter the AKAD distance learning programme flexibly at any time. With your start in distance learning, you choose one of three study variants: The Sprint variant corresponds to full-time studies and lasts 6 semesters or 36 months. The Standard variant lasts 8 semesters or 48 months and is particularly suitable if you are employed. The Stretch variant lasts 12 semesters or 72 months like part-time studies. By the way, in all 3 study models, you can extend up to 24 months of the standard study period without additional tuition fees if you wish.

The AKAD distance learning programme is tailored to your personal preferences and learning style. A study at AKAD University consists of these components:

• Traditional distance learning: Your study materials are sent to you by post. You work through the study material independently and complete assignments. In case of questions, you can contact your supervisors.
• Online study with digital learning methods: Through the online campus, you complete additional exercises, exam coaching and web-based training.
